• Nirjala Ekadashi has special significance in Hindu mythology as it is believed to be a day when Lord Vishnu sleeps for four months. On this day, devotees fast without consuming food or water and stay awake the whole night to worship Lord Vishnu. On Dwadashi (12th day) the fast is broken only after sunrise. It is believed that fasting on Nirjala Ekadashi liberates the devotees from their sins and also brings them closer to Lord Vishnu.
